"Don't Let My Brother Die!"

Oct 11, 2019

I wept when I saw the full photo.

A little girl, covered in blood, lay on an emergency room table with her right leg blown off just below the knee. She cried and pleaded with hospital staff to take care of her brother first. He was on the table next to her. He wasn’t moving.

“Please don’t let my brother die!” she cried, urging medical staff to save him.

Sadly, it was already too late. Her brother was one of the first victims of the bombs that fell from Turkish fighter planes on the city of Qamishli.

A Christian family of three was killed in the same town. They hoped they would be safe. After all, Turkey had promised to protect civilians—including religious minorities, and to avoid creating a mass humanitarian crisis.

Turkey lied.

Refugee encampments near the border are being evacuated. Mass numbers of people are fleeing the surrounding cities. Recent reports indicate more than 70,000 people are currently on the run from this hellish, unprovoked incursion of Turkish forces into Syria.

When you read numbers like that, what do you think? Do you wonder where will they go? What will they eat? Where will they receive medical attention as hospitals close and medical teams evacuate?

I do.

Panic is sweeping the region as a significant humanitarian crisis is taking form right before our eyes.

That’s why Liberty Relief International exists. Because people in crisis can’t wait while the dust settles and governments figure things out.

We are responding to the urgent need for prayer for the Kurdish forces and their families, for civilians, and for the multitude of Christian men, women, children and elderly the line of fire in northeastern Syria.

And we are working with Christ-centered partners in the region to help provide humanitarian relief in whatever ways we can.

Will you help?

Every 35 dollar gift you share provides a box containing a month’s worth of food and supplies to sustain a family that has been displaced by this invasion.

We can’t turn away from their need.

Your tax-deductible gift today of 35, 70, 140, 525 dollars or more will help relieve suffering, provide for emergency needs, and let fellow Syriac believers know that they are NOT FORGOTTEN!

When Turkish-backed jihadist rebels attacked Afrin last year, the bloody invasion was nothing less than ethnic cleansing in the form of population displacement, specifically of Christians and religious minorities.

Please continue to pray for this escalating situation and please share these updates with your family, friends, and church to raise awareness of this need. Thank you in advance for standing with LRI to pray for and care for the situation in Syria and for persecuted believers all over the world!

God bless you,
