They Can't Pay the Christianity Tax

Oct 30, 2019

As the bombing and violence continues in Syria, even during the so-called cease fire, Christians are getting the message loud and clear: Flee or die.

Christians who tried to remain in the embattled zone between Syria and Turkey are witnessing exactly what they feared – a repeat of what happened in the north Syrian town of Afrin last year.

Jihadists are driving Christians from the area by taking over their homes and confiscating or destroying their crops and businesses. Any Christian wishing to stay will have to pay a special tax, which of course is impossible without an income.

Keep in mind—these families have been under attack for their faith for years. They are struggling to hold on. They urgently need our prayers and aid.

Reports have circulated of extremists singing about beheading the “infidels.” Other videos show groups, like the Army of Islam, urging members to treat Syriac Christians as second-class citizens.

In a recent video update shared by CBN from another aid group working in Syria called Free Burma Rangers, you can see a large group of people receiving humanitarian aid supplies…but they have nowhere to go. The latest count is roughly 300,000 people in this situation.

PLEASE PRAY. Christians, Yazidis and Kurds are all in the line of fire in this battle. They urgently need our prayers as well as our assistance with practical humanitarian aid. Pray also for God to turn the hearts of the extremists.

Will you share a generous gift today to help with this urgent need?

Every gift you share will help provide emergency relief boxes containing food and other essentials like clean water, cooking materials, temporary housing, hygiene kits, medical care, warm clothing and blankets as winter approaches.

Our Christ-centered partners on the ground in Syria and surrounding countries are working to alleviate the suffering of the wave of refugees fleeing the invasion from the north, but the need is far outpacing the supply.

Please share a tax-deductible gift today of 50, 100, 200, 500 dollars or more to help meet this need, and let them know that Christians in the U.S. will continue to stand with them in prayer and practical aid.

Thank you in advance for standing with LRI to pray for and care for the situation in Syria, and for persecuted believers all over the world!

God bless you,
