Don't Be Fooled By Iran's Deceptions

Your compassion for the persecuted is not limited by distance

While Iran tries to save face concerning the ways in which its government targets and persecutes Christians within its borders, I know you aren’t fooled.

According to Christianity Today, 166 Christians were arrested and 103 detained by Iran in 2023 alone.

Still, Mansour Borji of Article18 — a London-based human rights and religious freedom advocacy group — says, “They don’t want the negative publicity.”

So, how does Iran — No. 9 on Open Doors’ World Watch List — hide its hostile treatment of Christians to manufacture its desired appearance on the world stage?

“Several Christians were pardoned in 2023, though [a recent advocacy] report notes that most were already near their maximum term of imprisonment. And on the same day that one Iranian-Armenian pastor was set free, another was arrested as a warning to recognized Christian communities that they must not preach to Muslims.”

Additionally: “Other trends indicate that … arrests of Christians tend to come in waves, with increased surveillance of suspected converts and those released from detention.”

Thankfully, God sees what believers there endure daily … and so do you, through your support of Liberty Relief International.

Give today and you’ll stand with Iranian Christians and others by helping local, on-the-ground partners meet their most pressing needs ...

You’ll offer desperately needed hope to victims and their families through trauma counseling, spiritual and emotional support, and more ...

Your support will be a reminder to brothers and sisters in Iran — and all over the world — that while most of us can’t be there in person to comfort the hurting and oppressed, your compassion is not limited by distance or nationality ... because the church is one family, one body, united in Christ.

Thank you for ministering to those who suffer. Thank you for giving hope to those wrongfully imprisoned for their faith. Thank you for continuing to “remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering” (Hebrews 13:3).

In His service,

Mat Staver
