Meet Critical Needs Worldwide

Chhattisgarh — the “Rice Bowl of India” — is known for its farming. But Christian farmers in Central India are being pressured to follow Hindu gods instead of the Savior they love.

More than 180 Christian families in 32 villages in this Indian state have been denied access to communal water sources since early May. When they need water for farming, village leaders and extremist groups cut off their access to hand pumps, ponds, and rivers.

Yet if these Christians try to get jobs under a government employment program, they are denied. Christian families have tried to gather produce from forested areas to sell, but they are prevented from doing so. Christian leaders in the community say these severe boycotts are aimed at pressuring believers to abandon their faith and get them to go back to Hinduism.

Thankfully, these communities are not giving in and are standing strong in their faith.

It is unthinkable what believers must endure from radical adherents to Hinduism and Islam in India and around the world.
